INCIDENT REPORT   Reported to Bell Gardens Police Department

5/24/23 at 10:12:50 AM

Incident details:

RPl told me on 5/24/23, at approximately 0940 hours, he looked through the text messages in his phone and saw a text from an unknown number. The text was from [redacted] which RP1 advised was not a number familiar to him. The text read "Don't go to school tomorrow, I'm shooting it up". It should be noted the text was received on 5/23/23 at 1950 hours. RPI stated he did not see it until this morning because his phone died the previous night and it was charging. I reviewed the text message and confirmed the information provided by RPI. RPI said he messaged his friends and asked them if they received the same message. None of RPl's friends received any threatening texts or knew anyone who would have sent the text. I spoke to [redacted] and [redacted] inside the principal's office as well. Both students told me they did not receive any t reatening messages and did not know who would have sent them. RPl told me he plays video games with a friend [redacted] (NFD) online. RPl has never met [redacted] but stated [redacted] was the kind of friend who would "prank" people by sending inappropriate messages. RP1 could not provide any more information about [redacted]. Officers attempted to call the number that was listed in the message, however, the line would not connect. It should be noted the 208 area code is from Idaho and believed to be a fictitious phone number. Based on the vague threat, as well as a lack of any potential suspects, this report is being generated for documentation purposes. There are no credible threats at this time.
